Chris Christenson is a Southern California native surfboard shaper whose career bridges heritage craftsmanship with modern performance. He learned his craft under masters Dick Brewer and Skip Frye, carrying forward their traditions while developing his own distinct style. Along the way, he has mentored shapers like Josh Hall, Michael Miller, and Jeff McCallum, passing on the lessons of design and discipline.

Known for shaping everything from traditional fish and refined longboards to high-performance shortboards, step-ups and heavy-water guns, Christenson embodies his belief in having “many arrows in the quiver.” His boards have carried riders into some of the heaviest waves in the world, with surfers like Greg Long, Tom Lowe and Ian Walsh earning nominations at the Billabong XXL Big Wave Awards.

  • 2 BWT World Titles

  • Most XXXL Awards by a single shaper

Whether it’s a traditional fish built for timeless glide or a board designed for survival at Mavericks or Pe‘ahi, Christenson remains committed to precision, progression, and honoring the lineage of those who came before him while inspiring those who will follow.
